“The land is one great wild untidy luxuriant hothouse made by nature for herself.”

Nanga Damai is principally a bed and breakfast homestay and we do not operate a restaurant. However we would be delighted to make a special arrangement to share our dinner table with you, or for our talented housekeepers to prepare a delicious Indonesian-style meal of fresh seafood and jungle produce. Please let us know well in advance so we can shop and prepare ingredients. Charges depend on the price of ingredients and fresh produce, but expect approximately RM 20-30 per person for a substantial dinner and RM 10 for a lunch of fried rice or noodles and side dishes.

Alternatively, there are some excellent seafood restaurants in the vicinity. We recommend Palm Garden Seafood, which is 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive (the butter prawns are a must), or Lim Hock Ann Seafood in Buntal Village (10 minutes drive to enjoy the best steamed pomfret fish and chilli crabs in Borneo). We can usually drop you off and the restaurant staff will arrange transport back. The nearby Green Paradise Café (10 minutes walk) also serves delicious meals, although service can occasionally be a little erratic.

Ice-cold beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks are available for self-service in our terrace bar. There is also a wide variety of cocktail ingredients for you to experiment with. All sales are conducted on an honesty-bar basis, where you simply write down what you have consumed. Prices are kept at rock-bottom levels.
